In a season with daily roster moves, the Yankees have announced pitcher Bryan Mitchell and Nick Goody have been called up to the Yankees, while reliever Caleb Cotham has been sent down. Goody has a 1.35 ERA with Scranton this year, while Mitchell has a 2.89 ERA in 9.1 innings for the Yankees this year. Both righties are 24 years old and have a lot of upside for a depleted pitching staff. The bullpen will be getting busy after the injuries to Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda, which have Yankees fans up in arms about the lack of moves so far before the trade deadline.

To make some room, right handed reliever Caleb Cotham has been sent down. This move comes only a day after they called him up to accommodate sending down struggling Chris Capuano.

More good good news coming out of the pitching department. Andrew Bailey has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton, right after the Trenton Thunder won their game. The 31 year-old reliever threw back-to-back nights for the first time, which was Bailey’s biggest test yet. He rocked an impressive 0.63 ERA in 11 appearances for Double-A Trenton. The goal is for Bailey to pitch for the Yankees by the end of the season. His experience will undoubtedly come in handy for a playoff run.

Stay tuned, though. There is less than 24 hours until the deadline, and anything can happen.
